Docuity Messages
The staff room, secured.
Channels and direct messages for a clinical team, in one calm place. Realtime, encrypted at rest, and yours to run. Coordination for the people who keep the clinic moving, kept separate from the patient record.
Free to use. Sign in happens in Docuity ID. Not a medical record.
Talk in the open, or one to one.
Channels keep a shift on the same page. Direct messages handle the quiet asides. Everything arrives the moment it is sent, so no one is refreshing to see what changed.
- Channels
- One per team, ward, or topic. Join, post, and catch up on what you missed.
- Direct messages
- Private threads between two people, for the asides that do not belong in a channel.
- Threads
- Reply in place so a busy channel stays readable during a shift.
- Presence
- See who is around before you wait on a reply.
The choice that matters
Pick how each workspace is encrypted.
Encryption is set per workspace when you create it. We are plain about what each option gives you, and what it costs.
Server-encrypted
Default
Message bodies and files are encrypted at rest under a key the server holds. That key lets the server power full-text search and recover a workspace. It also means the server can decrypt your messages, so this is not end-to-end encryption, and we never call it that.
End-to-end
Per workspace, opt in
The workspace key is generated in your browser and never sent to the server. It reaches teammates only through the invite link, in the part after the # that browsers never transmit. The server stores ciphertext it cannot read. In return: search runs in your browser over messages it has decrypted, the invite link carries the key so treat it like a password, and if every member loses the key the history cannot be recovered.
The rest of what a team needs.
Threads
Keep a side conversation attached to the message that started it.
Attachments
Drop a file into any conversation. It is encrypted the same way as your messages.
Reactions
Acknowledge without adding another message to the channel.
Read receipts
See who has caught up, so you know the message landed.
Coordination, not the chart.
Docuity Messages is where staff talk. It is not the patient record. Keep clinical documentation in Docuity EHR, and use Messages for the coordination around it. Membership and admin changes are written to an append-only, hash-chained audit log. Retention is set per workspace, 365 days by default, and admins can change it.
No HIPAA certification (there is none to hold), no SOC 2 today, and no end-to-end claims for server-encrypted workspaces.
Built for clinical and office staff
Bring your team into the staff room.
Nurses, front desk, on-call doctors, and the coordinators who keep them in sync. One account across the Docuity suite, and a workspace up in minutes.
